Zayin ז is the seventh letter of the Hebrew alep bet with a numerical value of 7. It means sword but as it comes from the primitive root Zan זן meaning bread it also represents a source of nourishment. The first time it appears as the root of a word in Torah is at Genesis 1:11 in the word zera זרע meaning to bear, produce, or conceive. We see God in ז as God not only protects us and feeds us, He helps us to grow.
